Post secondary

Nova Scotia skiers are experts at balancing competitive skiing and post-secondary education. Skiers train for the opportunity to compete at events held at all levels – provincial, national, and international. Four Nova Scotians qualified to race at the World University Games – for some it was their first international competition; venues included Poland, Italy, Korea, and Austria. Notably, post-secondary skiing programs offer challenging training with awesome experiences, contributing to your network of life-long ski friends. Understand your post-secondary training opportunities and find more life adventures through cross-country skiing.

History

Team alumni have proudly represented our sport and province at regional, provincial, and national level competitions. National races include the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships, and the Canada Winter Games. Additionally, provincial team alumni have raced at the World University Games, won major events at the Gatineau Loppet, won the Canadian Ski Marathon, and trained with the National Espoir Canadian Ski Team.

Bryan Scallion featured on the 1975 Canadian Ski Marathon Poster. Scallion won the 1974 Canadian Ski Marathon.

Ian Murray photographed after winning the 42 km freestyle event at the 2015 Gatineau Loppet – the event was reduced from 51 km due to extreme cold temperatures. Murray won both premiere events in this edition of the Gatineau Loppet, also placing first in the 51 km classic.
