Masters Roller Ski Program by Scotia XC Ski Club

by Cross Country Nova Scotia, Staff, Oct 1, 2024

Scotia XC Ski Club is excited to offer an adult roller-ski program designed for all skill levels, from Oct 15 – Nov 26, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – lead by coach Dave Hubley. Every Tuesday, the group will meet at the 5K Cafe parking lot in Bayers Lake. Roller-skiing is a great way to enjoy the movement of cross-country skiing year round. It’s also a fun activity to keep fit and meet fellow members of the ski community. SXC has 14 pairs of skate roller skis and 6 pairs of classic available. You will be required to bring your own poles, boots that are compatible with nnn bindings, and helmet.

Dave Hubley is a long-standing, Nordiq Canada NCCP certified coach, with Scotia XC Ski Club with decades of experience coaching all ages to ski. A physical education teacher with more than 33 years experience, Dave has dedicated his lifetime to sharing the value of sports with others, and luckily for us he is volunteering to bring like-minded adults together to enjoy roller-skiing. Coach Dave creates a positive and social environment with all the groups he instructs.

Coach Dave emphasizes that “the program welcomes all abilities from newbies to well experienced”.

“We keep it safe and slow. We select terrain that is friendly to a master skier. It is a good way to work on balance, body position and polling in a controlled environment.”
