MASTERS SKIERS

Cross-country skiing is the ultimate lifelong sport for health and fitness. There is nothing better than hitting the trails with friends or family… skiing is also your ticket to the woods, to enjoy the solitude of nature independently. Clubs offer regular events, such as North Highlands Nordic’s weekly “Tea and Ski”. Additionally, there are many opportunities for skiers to race within our province. Check out our calendar of events.

Whether you are learning to ski or preparing to race competitively, your local cross-country ski club can provide the coaching you need. Skiing is a low impact sport that can be learned at any age.

Nordic Ski Lab provides online cross-country ski technique videos including skate and classic skiing, demos, drills, and step-by-step lessons. Understanding cross-country skiing technique and practicing drills targeted to your ability will help you move further with less effort – contributing to additional enjoyment of the sport.

Interested in learning more about ski waxing? Nordiq Canada offers an online waxing tutorial to provide the basics of waxing for skiers of all abilities, including those just getting started.

The CCNS calendar will connect you with club social skis, along with regional and provincial events, including loppets. Consider competing nationally at the Bill Gairdner Masters National Championships, where you can enjoy participating in the events, and meeting skiers from across Canada. Additionally, the World Masters Cross-Country Ski Association provides support to masters skiers and plans a Masters World Cup annually.
