A report by Colleen Jones, CBC News, features Lorenzo Caterini commenting on cross-country skiing in our region – at a time when we’re awaiting our first significant snow storm.
Caterini is the head of grooming and operations for Scotia XC Ski Club, which grooms and maintains nine trail systems in Halifax Regional Municipality and Western Nova Scotia. One trail system includes a beginner-friendly area at The Links of Brunello with artificial snow-making.
Scotia XC Ski club selects sites for trail systems strategically, taking advantage of micro-climates and ensuring sites can be groomed with minimal snow. Sites with slightly higher elevation may receive snowfall, while other areas of the province receive rain. Grass sites, such as golf courses require less snow to groom. View the club’s variety of trail systems.
“We need snow. We want snow. We specialize in low snow grooming.”
