Midway, U.S.A. – Emma Archibald (Fall River, NS), National Para-Nordic Prospects Team skier, brought home two silver medals while competing at the U.S. Paralympics Nordic Sit Ski Nationals and FIS Para Nordic Skiing Continental Cup, at Soldier Nordic Center, in Midway, Utah, U.S.A., on January 2nd – 3rd.
Archibald earned silver in standing sprint classic – shaving a minute off her time in the final. During the second day of competition, she finished second in the distance skate (5 km). Congratulations, Emma!
In addition to racing, Emma received international classification in the sport class LW5/7 (athletes who have an impairment in both arms and compete without ski poles). An important step, as she can compete in international races.

Emma Archibald – Background:
Emma Archibald was named to the National Para-Nordic Prospects Team in 2022. The team is part of the Paralympic stream of the National Ski Team. The objective of the Prospects Team is to develop U23 para-nordic athletes who are progressing along the national Podium Pathway and have demonstrated the potential to transition to the NextGen or higher level of the National Team. The Para-Nordic Prospects Team Head Coach is Graham Nishikawa.
Archibald is also a third-year athlete on the Nova Scotia Ski Team, and a second-year athlete on the uOttawa GeeGees Nordiq Ski Team, under the direction of head coach, Sheila Kealey. Emma has the honour of being Assistant Captain for her university team. She is a full-time student attending the University of Ottawa, pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences.
