Emma Archibald – Team Coatsworth Grant Recipient

by Cross Country Nova Scotia, Staff, November 3, 2022

Congratulations to Emma Archibald, Nova Scotia ski team athlete, for being selected as a Team Coatsworth grand recipient, by the Nordiq Canada Development Fund committee. Established as a gift by former Nordiq Canada Board Chair, Jamie Coatsworth, this new grant provides support to individual elite athletes who are in financial need, pursuing school, and have the potential to reach international podiums.

The Nordiq Canada Development Fund committee has awarded $18.5K to support Division projects that help develop NextGen athletes. And for the first time ever, $8K was given to directly support individual athletes through the Team Coatsworth grants. A total of $26.5K has been awarded.

Emma Archibald is a second year student, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Ottawa, where she is also a member of the uOttawa Gees nordic ski team.

Archibald was nominated to the 2022-23 Nordiq Canada National Prospects Team, in May 2022. Recently, she was selected to attend Nordiq Canada’s first Prospects Camp in July 2022, for five days of training in the vicinity of Whistler, B.C. This past season, Archibald secured gold across all para-nordic events at the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championship, held in Whistler, B.C.
