Provincial Team Named 2021-2022

by Cross Country Nova Scotia, Staff, May 31, 2021

Cross Country Nova Scotia extends our congratulations to athletes named to the 2021-2022 Nova Scotia ski team and development team. The roster includes nine returning able-bodied athletes and one returning para-nordic athlete. Two skiers will experience their first year on the development team. All athletes are Halifax Nordic Ski Club members.

The provincial ski team is a year-round training program. Skiers compete at regional, provincial, and national competitions. Additionally, athletes attend multiple training camps on snow and dryland. Provincial team skiers receive racing support, personal training plans, and technical coaching. Learn more about this program by viewing the team webpage.

Daniel Murray is providing leadership as head coach for his 14th consecutive season. Murray’s home club is North Highlands Nordic. Lilla Roy returns for her second season as Head Coach, para-nordic. Roy’s Nova Scotia home club was Arctic Fox Cross-Country Ski Club. Both Murray and Roy are team alumni.

“I am looking forward to working with this crew again this year (including 2 new additions to the team).  Despite the absence of major competitions last season, we had a lot of small victories, including athlete leadership of workouts, some excellent mid winter training, as well as some hard fought time trials.  I look forward to supporting these athletes as they carry this positive energy into the upcoming season, when we will hopefully be competing at the national level again.”
