Cross Country Nova Scotia is proud to announce the 2020-21 Provincial Cross-Country Ski Team and Development Team. Athletes will represent Nova Scotia at regional, provincial, and national competitions. The Provincial Team strives to create engaged young role models who are motivated for success at the national level, as well as inspire future generations of nationally competitive provincial ski teams.

This year’s team includes 6 veterans and 4 skiers who are new to the group – including a para-nordic athlete. Skiers range in ages from twelve to-seventeen. The diversity of ages provides opportunities for senior athletes to mentor younger skiers. All sharing the common drive of becoming the best skiers and team-mates possible. Team contracts are signed yearly, clearly outlining athlete roles, expectations, and team guidelines. Our athletes train year-round, following a program offering experiences to prepare them for competitive cross-country skiing and life.
“It’s great to have such a diverse team mixture of experience on the team. I am also really excited that we have a para-nordic skier in the mix! The new members of the crew are in good hands with our senior members, who already demonstrate great leadership qualities, as well as model great athletic attitudes. While we will see how COVID affects next season, it seems like the athletes are already training well, which is very promising.“DANIEL MURRAY | COACH NS XC SKI TEAM (2008 – PRESENT)
Spring training is underway. The team is working-out weekly during online meetings, in which athletes and coaches are leading the sessions. Team members learn to design specific workouts for cross-country skiing, along with having an opportunity to develop leadership skills.

Athletes will be participating in various training camps throughout the year, traveling as a team to selected competitions, and hosting their 2nd annual roller-thon fundraiser “The Big Roll”.
Congratulations to all athletes and coaches. We look forward to learning about your successes – both on and off the trails.
