Cross-country ski clubs bring “outdoor-minded” people together. Nova Scotia clubs maintain expertly groomed and marked trails; providing a safe place for beginners to learn. Clubs also host social events, races, pop-up races, pop-up instruction sessions, and offer programs for all ages and abilities. Additional activities may include: roller-skiing, nordic walking, snowshoeing, weekly social skis, and group trips. Connect with new and old friends at your local club this winter.

Club Functions
Club volunteers work tirelessly to motivate others to find enjoyment in our sport. Club functions include:
· Provide ski programs for all ages and abilities.
· Offer seasonal or daily rental equipment options.
· Organize social events, equipment exchanges, races all levels, and club trips.
· Groom trails, post trail location signs, and perform trail maintenance.
· Provide membership, governance, and administration.
· Coordinate liability insurance coverage for members through Nordiq Canada.

Membership
Cross Country Nova Scotia is the provincial governing body for cross-country skiing in Nova Scotia. We support and represent our member clubs, throughout the year. Note CCNS does not sell individual memberships, you must purchase memberships from our member clubs. Please reach out with questions, concerns, and suggestions. We’re here to help.
Organize a Club!
Do you live in a community that is interested in bringing cross-country skiers and nordic sports enthusiasts together? Consider forming a club. Membership offers the strength of connecting your group with cross-country skiers from other clubs across the province and the country, who are willing to share their expertise. Your group will also gain access to supporting resources.
There are many resources available to clubs who affiliate with Cross Country Nova Scotia. Funding opportunities exist to improve club programs, coach training, equipment, and skiing initiatives. We allocate funding to qualifying clubs in various forms including grants, fund-matching, and loans. View our Document Centre to review current funding opportunities.
Our Services to You
- Administer funding to clubs.
- Liaise with external partners, including (Sport Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Communities, Culture and Heritage).
- Promotion and coordination of try skiing events.
- Provide third party sport liability insurance and directors and operators, through Nordiq Canada. Covers all club members involved in ski-related activities.
- Administer and support rewards programs for athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
- Promote the delivery of programs including Bunny Rabbit, Jackrabbit and Track Attack.
- Operates the Nova Scotia Ski Team including governance, subsidization, policy development, coaching selections, training opportunities and development.
- Provides internal and external communication (Cross County Nova Scotia website, social media).
Fee Schedule
Cross-country ski clubs independently determine their membership fee structures. A portion of each membership is dispursed to Cross Country Nova Scotia and Nordiq Canada. CCNS pays $10 per person to Nordiq Canada. Fees contribute to insurance, skill development program designs, coach training, and additional resources.
Note – the fees below are not individual memberships. Individuals must purchase memberships directly from cross-country ski clubs, CCNS does not sell individual memberships. The information below is the portion of an individual cross-country ski club membership that is allocated to CCNS and Nordiq Canada.

Insurance
Cross Country Nova Scotia is pleased to provide third party liability insurance to all clubs and members. We care about providing protection during potential times of need. Enjoy our sport safely and with the extra peace of mind that membership provides.
Members of cross-country ski clubs affiliated with Cross Country Nova Scotia are covered by the “Third Party Sport Liability Policy”, maintained by Nordiq Canada. Coverage includes “directors and officers errors and omissions”.
