Are you a positive, respectful, and caring person who is passionate about skiing? We are keen to expand the number of coaches/instructors within our membership! Scotia XC Ski Club in collaboration with Cross Country Nova Scotia are pleased to offer the Community Coaching Course, designed by Nordiq Canada, on December 6-7, from 9 am – 4:30 pm, at Nova Scotia Community College campus located at 5685 Leeds St, Halifax, NS. Fee is $50. Registration is required.
Content will cover theory and practical. We will use roller skis provided by the club if no snow. If you are new to roller-skiing, we have several options to create a safe and valuable experience for you. We will treat it like a beginner ski lesson.
The hybrid course targets anyone who is interested in instructing adult or youth beginner skiers. The course provides coaches with the knowledge to structure a lesson that creates a meaningful learning experiences for novice skiers. The emphasis is on skill development in both classic and skate techniques. Participants will be instructed on how to deliver a fun and enjoyable interactive session that develops a passion for the lifelong health and fitness benefits of cross-country skiing.
You do not need to be a proficient skier to be able to coach. Your skiing ability is less important than your ability to convey information in a fun, creative and safe environment. We want beginner skiers to develop a positive attitude towards skiing by experiencing an enjoyable lesson.
