Try Cross-Country Skiing at Sackville Snow Days

Come on out and try cross-country skiing at the Sackville Snow Days on Sat, Feb 17, 2024, at Acadia Park in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; from 1 pm – 3 pm. Cross Country Nova Scotia’s ski ambassador, Stacy Payne, will provide all of the basic instruction you require to learn and enjoy cross-country skiing – classic technique. There is no fee to participate in this fun event and equipment will be available to borrow. All ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. 

You will enjoy a social and relaxed learning environment with Stacy Payne. Over the past four years, she has initiated programming and instructed over 800 students to cross-country ski at school. Stacy has been teaching physical education within the HRCE for the past 20 years. 

There will also be snowshoeing, bird feeder stations, and more at Acadia Park from 1pm – 3pm as part of many activities during Sackville Snow Days! Check out the schedule of events scheduled from Feb 16 – 19.

If you enjoy your time on snow, please check out your local cross-country ski club, SCOTIA XC Ski Club, which offers lessons for all ages, 40 km of groomed trails across 8 venues in HRM and western Nova Scotia, social events, and many people to support you in your cross-country skiing journey.

You are welcome to bring your own equipment as well, if you have it, and want to join the group.
CLOTHINGPlease dress in layers. If you get too hot, you can remove a layer.
If you are bringing a young child, be sure to bring warm mittens, warm socks, snow pants, and a hat. You can always take a layer off. Skiing is more enjoyable for every age group, when they are a comfortable temperature.
