Hello Masters Skiers!

This email is targeting SCOTIA XC club members who regularly exercise all year long and would like to get a head start on their skiing. There are a number of master athletes who are skiers. Master athletes are still athletic and do some form of training through out the year, perhaps not at the capacity they once performed. The need for strength & mobility does not diminish, in fact research indicates we should be doing more strength training as we age.

The club has contacted Robert Brownell who has made a living as a fitness consultant. Robert understands the constraints on the 50+ demographic. We asked Robert to design and discuss exercises that would be skiing specific (basic strength, stability & mobility)  The workshop would be a 2 hour interactive session focusing on information & exercises you could include in your weekly regime. The proposed workshop would occur in early October at an approximate cost of $20.00 per participant.  The session is limited to 25 participants, as of September 28, there are five spots left.

We know it is early to be thinking skiing but as many  ski coaches /instructors state, ‘skiers are made in the summer & fall’. It would be great to bring the 50+ skiing community & like minded people together. If this is of interest to you and/or someone you know please contact David Hubley, davidhubley@icloud.com.
