ABOUT / SUPPORTERS AND PARTNERS / GOVERNANCE
The Nova Scotia provincial cross-country ski team is a year-round program, for athletes in the Train to Train and Learn to Compete stage of development. Nordiq Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and Competition Pathway models, serve as guidelines for athlete progression. The objective of the provincial team is to build esprit de corps, develop friendships, and provide competitive learning opportunities and challenges.
About
The provincial team is a competitive program – built upon a strong history of vibrant team spirit, passion for cross-country skiing, and dedication to success. The program offers experiences that prepare athletes for competitive skiing and life. Qualifying members commit to the team guidelines as outlined in the Athlete Contract.
Athletes are named to the provincial team by meeting established Selection Criteria. Moreover, athletes accepted to the program will be extremely self-motivated, dedicated to competitive cross-country ski training, and demonstrate exceptional team player skills.
The program provides racing support, quality coaching, and individual training plans. Team members are dedicated to achieving their training goals and tracking progression. Athletes compete at regional, provincial, and national races. In addition, multiple training camps are held on snow and dryland.
Mandate
The provincial team program strives to create engaged young role models who are motivated for success at the national level, as well as inspire future generations of nationally competitive provincial ski teams.
Vision
Nova Scotia has the capacity to develop junior athletes to be nationally ranked in the top 10 skiers in their age group. Nova Scotian athletes can be recognized in Canada for their determined racing, as well as their enthusiastic team spirit.
