PAYING IT FORWARD
Historically, thousands of volunteers have worked to establish Nova Scotia’s Provincial Ski Team – coaches, administrators, managers, officials, and financial supporters. All realizing the value of investing in our young athletes.
Many athletes in this photograph have transitioned from Provincial Team athletes into coaching &/or leadership roles – choosing to pay it forward. A few of our second generation team families are also featured.
The tradition continues. We’ve seen our first generation athletes transition to coaching, watched as their daughters or sons raced, and now we see their children moving into leadership roles. The Provincial Team is a community grounded in volunteerism. Making an impact on youth during the formative teenage years.
Research documents the benefits for youth who volunteer, and the importance of connecting youth to communities demonstrating volunteerism. Our program is filled with volunteer leadership and opportunities to participate.

POSITIVE TEAM CULTURE
Building a positive team culture is deliberate. The Provincial Team develops good people, first. The leadership teaches young athletes how to set goals to achieve athletic excellence, while encouraging fellow teammates, every step of the way. Athletes enjoy a supportive and physically challenging environment while training as a team, where they can laugh and have fun.
